Short version: Shelzy's Beauty is a research and curation site. Picks come from ingredient lists, brand documentation, dermatology guidance, and verified buyer feedback. We do not run lab tests, and we do not claim hands-on testing unless a page says so plainly.
How picks are chosen
- Longlist. Candidates come from Amazon category leaders, dermatology and editor coverage, brand launches, and reader requests.
- Formula review. The full ingredient list is checked for meaningful actives, likely irritants, fragrance, and claims that the formula cannot support.
- Buyer feedback. Recent and most-helpful verified reviews are read for patterns: irritation, breakouts, packaging failures, and repeat purchases.
- Listing check. The Amazon listing must match the exact product named on the page. We prefer brand storefronts and Amazon-sold listings to limit counterfeit risk.
- Ranking. Products are ranked by fit for a specific reader (skin type, concern, budget), so each pick says who it is for.
What we will not do
- No sponsored posts or paid placements. Brands cannot buy coverage or rankings.
- No fixed prices. Prices change on Amazon, so pages say "check price" instead of quoting a number.
- No invented star ratings or review counts in our pages or structured data.
- No medical advice. Safety-sensitive topics (acne, rosacea, pregnancy, strong actives, devices) point readers to a dermatologist or doctor.
Updates and corrections
Guides are reviewed when listings change, products are discontinued, or readers report a problem. The updated date on a page changes only when its content really changes. Report errors through the contact page.
How the site is funded
Shelzy's Beauty earns commissions from Amazon and, where noted, other retailers when readers buy through our links, at no extra cost to the reader. That creates an incentive, so the rule is simple: a product is only linked if it would make the page anyway. See the affiliate disclosure.
